Micro-pigmentation represents the implantation of pigment granules by a trained
practitioner for the purpose of natural-appearing cosmetics.
While the art of tattooing and permanent cosmetics are similar, the process of
micro-pigmentation is a unique procedure in which minute, metabolically inert
pigments are mechanically placed beneath the epidermis.
Commonly referred to as permanent makeup or cosmetics, the process of implanting
pigment beneath the epidermal layer of the skin can alter the tissue color to
gain the desired cosmetic effect.
